Free tax preparation for individuals & families who qualify for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

In partnership with Livingston Taxes, Gail Borden's Main Library is a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) location. VITA provides free tax help to people who generally make $64,000 or less, persons with disabilities, limited English-speaking taxpayers, and seniors who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. Hours for walk-in service at the library:

  • Thursdays from 4 pm to 8 pm
  • Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm

 

Service will generally be available in both English and Spanish.

Prefer to schedule an appointment? Appointments are available at Free For You Services, located at 2090 Larkin Ave #1A, Elgin, IL 60123. Call (877) 220-7627 for tax-related questions or to schedule an appointment.
