Examining hope and friendship by role play, multimedia and discussion to explore two virtues exemplified in Lord of the Rings which are central to being strong and resilient in challenging times.

JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings portrays an epic quest in which, in addition to military might, personal character and social relationships are central to the success of good over evil. This presentation examines hope and friendship—it enables us to reflect on their place in our own quest to live well in challenging times.

Retired Ethics and Literature professors, Jim Gould and Ted Hazelgrove will be presenting.
