In recognition of National Native American Heritage month, The Elgin Garden Club and Gail Borden Public Library will host Grandmother Susan Kaiulani Stanton. Possessing a deep understanding of traditional knowledge and her personal gift as a “teller of tales”, she is rooted in the wisdom of the past, and will present what she calls, “stories as medicine’ to inspire us toward a fuller realization of our relationship to each other, to our home on the Fox River, and to our Mother Earth. Along the way, she will reveal how the public library influenced her as a child.
Grandmother Susan lives with her husband, Brad Walking Bear Stanton on the Mississippi River in the heartland of North America.
This program is designed for ages 12 and up and will include a display of indigenous artifact.
