En colaboración con el Consulado General de México en Chicago y Casa Michoacán en Elgin, invita a la comunidad a una proyección de la película mexicana Arráncame la vida, seguida de un conversatorio.

Basada en la novela de Ángeles Mastretta, esta adaptación cinematográfica nos transporta al México de la primera mitad del siglo XX y presenta una historia que invita a reflexionar sobre el papel de la mujer, las relaciones de poder y la historia de México, así como sobre el diálogo entre la literatura y el cine.

Presentada en español con subtítulos en inglés. Evento exclusivamente para adultos, mayores de 18 años. ¡Acompáñanos a celebrar el cine y la literatura mexicana!

Celebrating Mexican Cinema Day: Arráncame la vida

In collaboration with the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago and Casa Michoacán in Elgin, we invite the community to a screening of the Mexican film Arráncame la vida, followed by a discussion.

Based on the novel by Ángeles Mastretta, this film adaptation takes us to Mexico during the first half of the 20th century and presents a story that invites reflection on the role of women, power dynamics, and Mexican history, as well as the dialogue between literature and film.

Presented in Spanish with English subtitles. This event is exclusively for adults ages 18 and older.
