Explore games, crafts, snacks and books all about snow and snowmen in this winter version of our family book club. This is a "kit only" program. Registration required.

**NOTE:  Kits contain supplies for 1 of each craft.  If you have multiple children in your family, please register each child separately.**

"In the meadow we can build a snowman"... and make snowman crafts, snacks and more! If you like snow and snowmen, pick up this kit with craft, snack and game ideas to complete with your family whether it is snowing outside or not. (Note:  This is NOT a Zoom meeting event.) 

This program has supplies to be picked up at the KidSpace Youth Reference Desk at the Main Library (270 N. Grove Ave, Elgin). Program supplies will be ready for pick up between Friday, November 25th through Friday, December 2nd.  The kit will include the basic materials & instructions for the suggested craft projects.  You will need to secure the ingredients for the snack ideas as well as some general crafting items listed below.  Best for families with children in K-5th grade.  

If you would like to pick up the supplies at the Main Library Drive Up Window instead of inside the library at the Youth Desk, please call the Youth Desk at 847-429-4685 before arriving at the library.  

Program Supplies in the bag:

1 "Snowmen & Snowflakes EVERYWHERE!" book club plan document (stapled packet)

1 white craft stick

1 segment of ribbon (various colors)

1 blue pipe cleaner

1 white “puddle” printed on cardstock

1 larger white pompom

1 black construction paper rectangle

1 set of 2 brown arms

2 small orange rectangle

1 white cardstock rectangle

1 strip of patterned paper (may vary)

1 “Snowflake” packet (3 pages)

1 Winter Puzzle packet (sudoku/logic puzzles)

1 glyph paper packet

2 half sheets of white printer paper

1 segment of baker’s twine

1 popsicle stick

1 small baggie packed with the following:

4 googly eyes

3 small buttons

1 small white pompom

1 white cardstock circle

1 scalloped blue circle

1 small piece of silver pipe cleaner

Program Supplies to gather at home for CRAFTS:

Colored pencils/markers/crayons

Liquid glue

Glue stick

Q-tips

Black marker

Scissors

Stapler

Pencil

Ingredients to gather at home for SNACKS:  (if you want to make all snacks suggested)

Mini toaster waffles

Cream cheese, jam, or spread of choice

Chocolate chips

Candy corn

Pretzel Sticks

Bananas

Carrot (shredded would work best)

Grapes

Raisins/dried cranberries

Skewers

Mini chocolate chips

Graham Cracker Squares

White candy melts or vanilla frosting

M&Ms (blue especially)

Full-size marshmallows

Black icing gel

1 can evaporated milk (12 oz) or 1.5 cups of heavy whipping cream

Granulated sugar

Vanilla extract

Ingredients to gather at home for GAMES:

Several containers of Cool Whip whipped topping

Snowman accessories (chocolate chips, pretzel sticks, M&Ms, Cheerios, Bugles, etc.)

Paper Plates

Timer

Blindfolds

Carrot (either paper or real)

Straws

Mini marshmallows

Mugs
