¿El dinero te confunde? ¿Los términos financieros suenan como otro idioma? No te preocupes, aquí lo vamos a aprender todo.

En esta serie de cuatro sesiones, estudiantes y padres aprenderán juntos (y por separado) cómo manejar el dinero con inteligencia. Desde lo más básico hasta planear el futuro, este taller es una guía práctica para tomar el control de tu vida financiera desde joven.
La primera y última sesión es para padres y jóvenes, mientras que la segunda y tercera sesión solo es para los jóvenes.

Does money feel confusing? Do financial terms sound like another language? Don’t worry — we’ve got you.
In this four-part series, students and parents will learn together (and separately) how to manage money wisely. From the basics to long-term planning, this workshop is a practical guide to taking control of your financial life from a young age.
The first and final sessions will include parents and while Weeks 2 and 3 will follow a standard student-only format.

 

Semana 1: Introducción a las Finanzas (Con Padres)

Week 1: Introduction to Financial Literacy (With Parents)
Thursday, July 10 6-7:30pm

In this first session, students and parents will explore why understanding money matters. We'll cover financial mindset, essential terminology, and outline what to expect in the weeks ahead. Parents will gain insights into how they can actively support their child's growth.

Semana 2: Fundamentos de un presupuesto

Los estudiantes aprenderán a manejar el dinero a través de ejercicios prácticos de presupuestación utilizando herramientas simples en hojas de cálculo. Cubriremos cómo equilibrar ingresos, ahorros y gastos, y la importancia de monitorear los hábitos de consumo. Esta clase práctica introducirá herramientas que podrán usar durante toda su vida.
Week 2: Budgeting Basics Using Spreadsheets
Thursday, July 17 6-7pm

Students will get hands-on with budgeting through simple spreadsheet tools. They'll learn how to balance income, savings, and expenses, and why it’s important to track spending habits. This practical session introduces tools they can use for life.

Exploraremos diferentes caminos profesionales, salarios promedio y la conexión entre educación, habilidades y metas financieras. Se animará a los estudiantes a soñar en grande mientras aprenden a planificar de forma realista.
Week 3: Exploring Careers and Income Potential
Thursday, July 24 6-7pm
Grove Room
We’ll dive into different career paths, average salaries, and how education and skills connect to financial goals. Students will be encouraged to dream big while learning to plan realistically.

Semana 4: Planificación financiera familiar y herramientas útiles (Con Padres)
Miércoles 30 de julio 6-7:30pm
Salón Elgin
En nuestra sesión final, las familias se reunirán nuevamente para enfocarse en la planificación financiera a largo plazo. Los temas incluirán ahorro para el futuro, seguros de vida como estrategia financiera, planes de ahorro para la universidad y soluciones para el manejo de deudas. Los estudiantes que completen el programa recibirán certificados de logro.
Week 4: Family Planning & Financial Tools (With Parents)
Wednesday, July 30 6-7:30pm
Elgin Room
Families reunite for a final session focused on long-term financial planning. Topics include saving for the future, life insurance as a strategy, college savings plans, and managing debt. Students who complete the full program will receive a certificate of achievement.
