Did you know that Thursday, Nov. 19, 2026, is Illinois Family Reading Night? Celebrate in KidSpace with drop-in activities like crafts, a scavenger hunt, a "book tasting" & more. Best for PreK-5th.

Illinois Family Reading Night will take place all around the state on Thursday, November 19, 2026. This event encourages families to skip technology that evening in favor of reading together.  And what better place to start that celebration than in our reimagined KidSpace?

Families are invited to drop-in to KidSpace that evening from 6-7pm for some fun activities, such as a "book tasting", a craft, a scavenger hunt and more. Bring your library card to check out some books while you're here, and finish the evening at home with a family storytime. This event is best suited to kids in grades PreK-5th with a caregiver, and activities will be available while supplies last.
