Elgin RoomPam Otto & Valerie Blaine share practical ways to keep fallen leaves in your yard while working within municipal & HOA rules to create habitat for overwintering insects & wildlife. Please register.
“Leave the leaves!” It’s a common refrain as trees begin their annual shed. But what happens when municipal codes, homeowners’ association rules, or the Gladys Kravitz next door say otherwise? Local nature enthusiasts and naturalists Pam Otto and Valerie Baine will explore practical ways to keep fallen leaves on your property without allowing them to become unsightly. She will also discuss the benefits this practice can provide in winter, spring, and beyond.
Pam is an experienced naturalist and retired outreach coordinator for the St. Charles Park District. Well known throughout the area, she has presented many nature programs over the years. Valerie Blaine is a retired Kane County Certified Naturalist Program teacher and Educational Program Manager for the Kane County Forest Preserve.
This program is in partnership with the Wild Ones of Greater Kane County.
