Hybrid

6:30pm - 7:30pm
Main Library
Elgin RoomSmall choices can make your holiday season greener! Learn what does and doesn’t belong in curbside recycling, where it goes, and local options for common holiday items. Please register.
The winter holidays bring celebrations, gatherings, and plenty of extra waste. In fact, the typical U.S. household generates 25% more waste around the winter holidays. Join Clair Ryan, Kane County Recycling Coordinator, for practical ways to make the season greener through reducing, reusing, and recycling.
Learn what recycling is and what it is not, what belongs in your curbside bin, and where those materials go after they are collected. Clair will explain how Material Recovery Facilities sort recyclables, review common recycling mistakes, and share local options for holiday lights, batteries, electronics, gift wrap, and other seasonal items. She will also introduce Recycle Coach’s “What Goes Where” tool for finding reliable disposal information.
Leave with useful local resources and simple choices that can help keep holiday waste out of landfills without taking the joy out of the season.
